Political Gravity
Welcome to my Blog discussing the political landscape and ideas within Australia. I go by the name the Political Gravitron weighing up ideas and suggesting alternatives. I have always been opinionated on the way forward for Australia as a country from both a political and economic aspect. My blog will explore these ideas and welcome contributions from visitors.

Aussie GDP Comes in Below Expectations
Well another quarter down and Australia's GDP is still going along nicely above expectations. Wait for the political spin from this. We will hear Labour say how well they are doing to be in positive growth at all and Liberals saying that the only reason it rose is because of the governments own spending and they could have done a better job. Where does the truth lie? I believe it is somewhere in between. Although the real heros of this whole situation don't lie in recent politicians but in those of the past that set the groundwork for our strong economy in Hawke, Keating, Howard and Costello.

Are Banks Greedy or is Australian Becoming a Country of Mind-Controlled Whingers
I know, I know, a provocative headline for sure. Sit back have a serious think about it. How do you feel about banks? Then ask yourself why you feel this way?
I myself don't feel any malice toward them, maybe that is because I have never been struck with a monster fee, I have however been caught numerous times with many smaller fees (under $40). I understand they have a business to run and I do know the rules. What has got to me is the recent run in anger and outright hatred toward them. Is it justified or have we become a country of whingers believing whatever course the media is currently feeding us?
Today I will discuss the point about Banks and their levels of profits. I often hear the statement "banks are just making too much money". To these people, what is an appropriate level of profit for a bank to make? Should we introduce a communist system to tell a particular industry how much profit they should make regardless of their efficiency? To me that sounds like an argument being made by a raving mad-man or an egalitarian looking for their little piece of Nirvana. Yes the rules do need to be strict around banks, just like any other industry, perhaps even more so but I believe a sound banking system is one of the keys to a strong economy. A strong economy isn't just to make the rich wealthier but to enable any individual within it the recipe to a better life regardless of their goals (by better I am not referring strictly to money or wealth). Also strong banks means higher tax reciepts for the Australian government. I would estimate that the tax the big 4 pays would be north of $6,000,000,000. They are paying their share to help deliever the services and safety net that we as Australians have begun to take for granted.
In my next blog post I will discuss the notion of Australia becoming a country of winger and the ability of Australian media to force feed ideas and change public opinion.

The Goldman Sachs is Coming
The American govenment call it "Quantatative Easing". but what does it really mean? I believe the video below explains it best. The world really has a right to be very angry about what their banks have done and the laws set down by their government which encouraged the greed and theft.
Their solution seems crazy, especially after watching the following video.

So what do you think? Insanity or Brilliant.
Victoria Stamping Over South Australia
In South Australia, we seem to be suffering from a serious case of paranoia. If anyone has a crack at the way we do things or our city we put our backs up and televise the ultimate case of Napoleon complex. Are we just like that annoying little yappy Jack Russell dog? It is widely know that many many people have had enough of the arrogance of Mike Rann and Kevin Foley, yet what do we collectively do as a state? We vote them back in for yet another term.
Perhaps we should learn from Victoria, many state the reason for John Brumby's demise is the gross arrogance of the leader and the party. So what do they do? They say sayonara, we do not need that in our state.
Wanting to defend ones own state and protecting its pride is one thing, but at what cost. Learning from others and being able to say, "that is a success, we should try that" is the attitude that will move South Australia and Adelaide into the 21st century.

Blogs of a Feather
Welcome to any readers out there. I may have few or many followers, at this point who knows. I always think to myself, why did Julia Gillard do this or Wayne Swan do that.
Posts will vary between short 1 or 2 liners indicating a though to long in depth posts attempting to postulate my own policies. I would like to think I have some big ideas, some may be considered crazy and some will get support. Please become a follower and feel free to comment at any time.
In the coming weeks I will discuss my thoughts on;
- Then I think why don't they plan for the future?
- What kind of future are they planning?
- Is there power brokers and vested interests pulling the strings?
